Campgrounds of Denali
Denali has a total of six formal camping areas. Two of them are large and reached from a paved road, and resemble normal national park campgrounds. The other four lay along the unpaved park road, as far as 85 miles from the start.
Igloo Creek Campground
Size & Cost: 7 sites, $19.25 per site
Open: June through September

Location: Mile 35 of the Denali Park Road, access by shuttle only
Amenities: Vault toilets
Demand: Medium. This campground is very small and primitive, and available for tents only. It is sometimes full during the high summer season.
Riley Creek Campground
Size & Cost: 147 sites, $19.25-$39.75 per site
Open: May through September
Reservations: Privately managed, reserve online
Location: At the beginning of the Denali Park Road, just off of Alaska Highway 3
Amenities: Running water, flush toilets, fire rings and picnic tables β showers, laundry, dump station and campstore nearby
Demand: Very high. This campground is the main frontcountry campground in the park, and is always full during peak visitation. Reservations strongly suggested.
Sanctuary River Campground
Size & Cost: 7 sites, $19.25 per site

Location: Mile 23 of the Denali Park Road, access by shuttle only
Amenities: Vault toilets, fire rings and picnic tables
Demand: Medium. This campground is very small and primitive, and available for tents only. It is sometimes full during the high summer season.
Savage River Campground
Size & Cost: 33 sites, $31.25-$39.75 per site

Location: Mile 13 of the Denali Park Road
Amenities: Running water, flush toilets, fire rings and picnic tables
Demand: Very high. This campground is the smaller frontcountry campground in the park, and the only one other than Riley Creek that lies along the paved portion of the Denali Park Road. It is quite popular, and is always full during peak visitation.
Teklanika River Campground
Size & Cost: 53 sites, $33.25 per site
Open: June through September
Reservations: Privately managed, reserve online
Location: Mile 29 of the Denali Park Road, access by shuttle or special permit only
Amenities: Running water, flush toilets, fire rings and picnic tables
Demand: Extreme. This campground is known as simply βTekβ in the Denali community. Although it lies 15 miles beyond where the road is closed to private vehicles, those with reservations are allowed to drive their vehicle to Tek once, and the vehicle must stay there until checkout. It is extremely popular, and is always full during peak visitation. Reservations virtually mandatory.
Wonder Lake Campground
Size & Cost: 28 sites, $19.25 per site

Location: Mile 85 of the Denali Park Road, access by shuttle only
Amenities: Running water, flush toilets and picnic tables β no fires are allowed
Demand: High. This campground is extremely popular. It is the campground furthest inside the park, and the area provides some of the most iconic views of Denali. Reservations strongly suggested.
