Campgrounds of Theodore Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt has two separate units, the North Unit and the South Unit. Each has their own developed campground, with the much busier South Unit’s being a little larger, and allowing advance reservations.
Cottonwood Campground
Size & Cost: 70 sites, $14 per site
Open: All Year
Reservations: May through September, Online at recreation.gov
Location: 5.6 miles from the entrance in the South Unit
Amenities: Running water, flush toilets, grills and picnic tables – limited in winter
Demand: Very high. This is the only campground in the popular South Unit right off of I-94, and is nearly always full during the summer season.
Juniper Campground
Size & Cost: 50 sites, $14 per site
Open: All Year
Reservations: No, first come, first served
Location: 4.8 miles from the entrance in the North Unit
Amenities: Running water, flush toilets, grills and picnic tables – limited in winter
Demand: Very high. As the only campground in the North Unit it usually fills during the summer season and is almost certain to fill on summer weekends.
