Campgrounds of Death Valley

Campgrounds are scattered all over the massive expanse of Death Valley. However, the only ones with some semblance of civilization are in the Furnace Creek and Stovepipe Wells areas. Some of the small campgrounds require four-wheel drive vehicles to reach.

Emigrant Campground

chart Demand: Medium. The campground is small and, depending on time of year, may fill up. This is a tent-only campground.

Furnace Creek Campground

marker Location: On CA-190 14.3 miles from the East Entrance

drink Amenities: Running water, flush toilets, fireplaces and picnic tables, dump station, some sites have hookups

chart Demand: High. This is the primary campground in the park, and it is quite likely to be full in winter season. Reservations are suggested.

Mesquite Spring Campground

Stovepipe Wells Campground

Sunset Campground

chart Demand: Low. This is the largest campground in the park, near the Furnace Creek area. Texas Spring and Furnace Creek Campgrounds are very close.

Texas Spring Campground

Wildrose Campground

chart Demand: Medium. This campground in more remote and higher elevation than the other car-accessible campgrounds. It will be significantly cooler than the valley floor.
