Campgrounds of Haleakala
Haleakala National Park has two camping areas in very different environments. The first one is in the often cool and rainy lower end of the summit area. The other is along the Kipahulu Coast and is usually much warmer.
Hosmer Grove Campground
Size & Cost: 6 sites, $5 per site
Open: All Year
Reservations: Online at recreation.gov
Location: The campground is located in a grassy area near forest, just inside of the entrance station to the Summit Area.
Amenities: Running water, vault toilets, grills and picnic tables
Demand: Medium. The sites here are close together in an open and grassy area
Kipahulu Campground
Size & Cost: 9 sites, $8 per site
Open: All Year
Reservations: Online at recreation.gov
Location: Near the Kipahulu area on the coast, just south of the Kipahulu Visitor Center.
Amenities: Vault toilets, grills and picnic tables – there is no fresh water
Demand: Medium. The sites are near the ocean cliffs, and the Oheo Gulch is nearby as well.
